Crosby is a city located in Harris County, Northeast of Houston. The city has a total area of  2.3 square Miles (6.0km2) with a population of 6,126 according to the 2012 censes.

Demographics

In 2000, there were 1,714 people, 662 households, and 464 families residing in Crosby. The population density was 758.2 people per square mile (292.8/km²). There were 743 housing units at an average density of 328.7 per square mile (126.9/km²).

As of 2000, the racial makeup of Crosby was 74.15% White, 12.72% African Americans, 0.76% Native Americans, 0.41% Asian, 10.79% from other races and 1.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.38% of the population.

Of the 666 households out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 15.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 26.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.09.

In Crosby the population was spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 100 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.2 males.

The median income for a household in Crosby was $35,508, and the median income for a family was $41,458. Males had a median income of $37,244 versus $25,500 for females.
